Bradley Sterrett Captures Bloomington Modified Points Title

September 28, 2017, Bloomington, Indiana – With a consistent record of four top-5 finishes, including three top-3’s, in six events, Bradley Sterrett locked up Bloomington Speedway’s 2017 Modified Division championship. Wheeling Roddy Harris’ strong 9H modified, Sterrett was one of just four drivers to compete in all six events, and with a pair of runner-up finishes, a third and a fourth, the Bloomington driver topped Jacoby Hines by 27 points in the final tally.

Racing under the UMP banner, Bloomington’s Modified season was severely impacted by weather, and only six events were competed to date. A seventh race, which will not award points, will complete Bloomington’s 2017 season tomorrow (September 29) night. However the six events produced great racing, and six different winners. Two Summit American Modified Series events were held at Bloomington, and the winners were Illinois’ Danny Schwartz and Shon Flanary, from Tennessee. Jacoby Hines, Devin Gilpin, Richie Lex and Josh Harris also scored victories in 2017.

Hines’ second place in the points came on the strength of a win among three top-5 finishes. Jeff Deckard, third in points, had four top-10 finishes, including three top-5 runs. Jordan Wever earned fourth with two top-5 finishes, as the top four all competed in the six point events.
