Bloomington Speedway – Keeping You In The Loop

With the holidays in our rear-view mirror, we continue to push forward with preparations for the 2018 season. Rumor is that snow and ice are coming, so we need to focus on the business at hand so we are ready for the warm, sunny weather and great Friday nights of racing. Here are a couple of notes to keep everyone up-to-date.
A reminder that our 2017 Bloomington Speedway Awards Dinner will be Thursday, January 25th at the Wagon Wheel in Bloomington, located at 1915 S. Walnut St. A buffet dinner will begin at 6:30 pm, and it will include tri-trip steak, brisket chicken breast, a variety of vegetable and pasta dishes, and a salad bar. The cost of the buffet is $19.95. There will also be a cash bar for beer and wine. We will present awards to the top ten finishers in each division. The festivities are open to everyone.
It will be a busy weekend as Bloomington Speedway will have a booth at the Indy Circle Track Expo on Saturday, January 27 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Champion Pavilion. Kevin Champoux, who finished tied for eighth in the RaceSaver division in 2017, will have his RaceSaver sprint car on display and will be available to meet and talk to fans. Then the next day, Sunday, is the Hoosier Auto Racing Fans (HARF) Banquet at the American Legion Post in Brownsburg.
The track schedule is nearly finished. We are waiting for a couple of final details to be confirmed and plan to have it posted this weekend. I think that fans will be pleased with the upcoming summer of racing that is planned.
Other off-season activities are critical. We are continuing to work on the track equipment over the winter, Henry is really big on annual maintenance. We are continuing to meet with the staff and make sure that they will be ready for the coming season. And, as every track does, I am busy meeting with advertisers and sponsors, and hunting new opportunities to get businesses and fans involved with this legendary speedway.
One additional item…several new ramps from SR 37 have been completed and roads that were closed have been reopened in the last couple weeks, on the south side of Bloomington, near the track. This has made travel a lot easier. Looking ahead, it appears that getting to the track will be much easier than it has been the last couple of years, with the biggest headache in the area south of Martinsville.
I look forward to seeing as many as possible at the Awards Dinner.
