Friday’s JB Robinson Memorial Boasts $2,000-to-Win American Modified Series Feature
This Friday, Bloomington Speedway pays tribute to local businessman, family man and racing fan JB Robinson. The tribute has become an annual event on the Speedway’s calendar, and is always expected to deliver an evening of close, exciting racing. The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series tows into town for the first stop of a two-night doubleheader with Bloomington’s AJ Bowlen Realtor with ReMAX Acclaimed Properties UMP Modifieds, paying $2,000 to the main event winner. The event also pays $200 to start the 40-lap feature.
Joining the Modifieds on the oval will be the Green Earth Recycling and Composting RaceSaver Sprint Cars, Brandeis Machinery Super Stocks and the Hornets, with complete programs. The grandstand will open at 5:30, and admission is just $15 with kids 12 and under admitted free with an adult. The pit gate opens at 4:30 and pit passes are $30. Hot laps will begin at 6:30 with racing following at approximately 7:30.
The AMS Modified show will feature some of the best of our local racers head-to-head with the traveling racers. With two races in the books, Jacoby Hines sits on top of the Bloomington points with a win and a second place finish, followed by Chad Combs, Jeff Deckard and Jay Humphrey. Tyler Nicely is expected to return after taking the victory on opening night. In AMS points, Josh Harris holds a ten-point margin over Jimmy Payne. Nicely is fifth in the AMS standings.
