Jordan Kinser Leads Bloomington Victors, Hernandez, Hehman and Caruthers

June 16, 2018, Bloomington, Indiana – Taking advantage of another racer’s misfortune, Jordan Kinser scored his first Bloomington Speedway victory of the season on Friday. For the first third of the Tom White & Company Real Estate sprint car division feature, Kyle Cummins appeared to it all under control, leading by nearly half a lap. But a cut tire put him over the turn four banking, bringing out a yellow flag. Kinser, wheeling the Hurst Brothers #70 sprinter, dueled with Jeff Bland for a half dozen laps before pulling clear. Daylan Chambers also worked under Bland to claim the second position. Bland, who appeared to be fighting a shock problem on the left front, fell back to third at the finish.

Texan Anton Hernandez grabbed the low line away from Luke Bland in the closing laps of the Green Earth Recycling and Composting RaceSavers A-Main and collected his first win of the season. After pole-starter Coleman Chasteen looped in turn three, Bland led the charge to the front from his seventh starting slot. It took Hernandez a couple of additional laps to work his way to second in the Dirty30 TOPP Motorsports #30, but he quickly caught Bland. While Bland was dedicated to the bottom, Hernandez made several attempts to drive in lower and deeper, but couldn’t make headway. Then, while they worked past slower cars with a handful of laps remaining, he shoved a wheel under Bland, quickly claiming the lead. Hernandez drove on to the win, with Bland holding second, Andy Bradley third and Jeff Wimmenauer taking fourth.

Brownstown’s Jason Hehman bounced back from mechanical problems a week ago, coming from behind to defeat Jack Frye, Steve Hawkins, Steve Hollars and Chip Slagle. Hehman charged from deep in the field, but once out front, captured his fourth Brandeis Machinery Super Stock feature victory in just seven races.

Roy Caruthers headed the American Vintage Sprint Car Association (AVSCA) competition, winning his heat race before dominating the vintage sprint car main event.

The next event at Bloomington Speedway will be Military Appreciation Night, featuring the Tom White & Company Real Estate sprint cars, AJ Bowlen Realtor ReMax Acclaimed Properties-sponsored modifieds and Bloomington’s Hornets.
