To Fans, participants, and Sponsors

As many of you know this February Speedway Partners LLC entered into a multi-year lease to operate the Historic Bloomington Speedway beginning with the 2025 season. From the moment the ink was dry many have invested their time and energy to revive the racetrack and to secure the future of this historic plant for years to come. There was and remains much work to be done. Many advised that the prudent course of action was to move to a “specials only” format. That idea was rejected, and we can only hope that decision was wise. Also of note, the Huntley’s Hoosier Wing Spring Car series will make appearances at seven different tracks in 2025 while anchored at Bloomington Speedway.

Now, a status report. The amount of work that still needs to be done far outstrips the number of days available to accomplish every task. Mother Nature has been an impediment in this rainy spring. Additionally, this is largely a volunteer effort.

That said there is much to be proud of. There have been important infrastructure improvements that aren’t readily observable. There has been extensive work on the track surface. New and sturdier poles have ben installed for the catch fence. We have a new fire and safety truck. You will see new signboards in the infields, a new innovative victory lane, and a patio added behind the main tower. Extensive work has been completed in the concession stand. New planks have been installed in the entire section of wooden bleachers in the fourth turn area and in the pit grandstands.

This week the team assembled to consider what could be accomplished reasonably before the May 9th opener. Projects include expanding and bolstering the fence around the racetrack, replacing toilets, painting, and repairing the roof in the restrooms, and upgrading the public address system.
We will not complete all of these projects before the opening race. Instead, we will use this set of priorities as our guide and continue to work all summer long. What we are asking for is patience. We have hauled in multiple loads of new clay for the track. It generally takes time to get this right. The track will need to be worked and reworked constantly. There are no shortcuts. The bleachers are not theater seating, yet we hope to make what we have more comfortable for fans. We want the restrooms to be clean and functional. There will be every effort extended to make the grounds presentable. Our hope is that the public address will be louder and clearer in the main grandstands and in the pit.
While we would like each race to run like clockwork there may be a few growing pains along the way.

The people involved in this project have red clay in their veins. These are people who have spent endless summer nights at this racetrack and because they love Bloomington Speedway they were not content to let it die.
Hang in there with us. The overriding desire is to present first class entertainment at a first class venue. The Historic Bloomington Speedway is truly iconic, but we believe the best days are yet to come.
