One Week From Tonight The All Stars Return

One week from today the All Star Circuit of Champions return to the Red Clay for the running of the Kelly Kinser Classic presented by Monroe Hospital.

Two great Bloomington Institutions come together for a night of fun. Did you know that Monroe Hospital is expanding to include orthopedics and sports medicine? Monroe Hospital is also proud to have an extremely efficient Emergency Department which highlights an average wait time of just 16 minutes.

And talk about pride, Bloomington Speedway is proud of its history with the All Star Circuit of Champions.

The date was August 31, 1983 and the All Stars under the stewardship of Bert and Brigitte Emick bring a talented group of stars to the Bloomington for the first time. Who was the star of stars? No less than Steve Kinser. Steve set fast time at 11.768 and started sixth in the feature event. When he moved around Lee Osborne, who will take the ASCoC title for the third consecutive title later that fall, he was home free. Osborne finished 2nd followed by Dave Blaney, Danny Smith, and Brad Marvel.

In 1983 Steve won 18 times with the World of Outlaws to get back to the top after Sammy Swindell had snatched the crown two years running while racing for LaVerne Nance.

However, one of Steve's greatest moments came with the All Stars. Of his 6 ASCoC wins in 1983 his victory in the Ohio Sprint Speedweek finale at Eldora was by far his most dramatic. Steve had taken 4 of the 5 Speedweek races heading into the $20,000 to win show on July 23. Then he learned that because he had not pre-entered for Speedweeks he had not accumulated points and would be forced to start from the rear of the field --- all night. Kinser started his night at the back of a C main -- it didn't matter. By the time the checkered flag fluttered he and Karl Kinser had taken home the big money.
In his legendary career Steve won 40 All Star feature races

You could count on Steve Kinser to get to the front
You can expect to see plenty of action on the Red Clay of Bloomington Speedway
Most important of all you can count on Monroe Hospital to care for you and your family

Next Friday Night more history will be made
